KILLEEN - The Tem-Cat freshman basketball team closed out the season on Tuesday with a 24-19 victory over Killeen Shoemaker. And in the process, the Tem-Cats won the freshman level District 12-6A championship with an impressive record of 11-1 in district play and 22-2 overall.

The win didn't come easy as the Lady Greywolves jumped out to a 9-4 lead in the first quarter. However with a pair of buckets from Alearia Westbrook, Temple cut the lead to 13-12 by halftime.

In the third, Temple couldn't quite overcome Shoemaker as they trailed 19-17 going to the fourth. However, in the fourth a stout Tem-Cat defense shut out the Lady Greywolves as buckets from Ava Anderson and Emma Flores helped the Tem-Cats blank the Lady Greywolves 7-0 in the final 8 minutes.

The Tem-Cats were led by Alearia Westbrook with 8 points while Ava Anderson had 6 points.

Also for the Tem-Cats, with 2 points each were Emma Flores, Imani Woodson, Alaina Lopez and Alanah Johnson. Aniya Wilson capped out the scoring with 1 point.
