Bishop Caldwell and Kordell Williams grew up playing football in Temple, but they didn’t know one another until their freshman year of high school.

Now senior standouts and two-year starters for the Wildcats, they often can be found competing against each other on the practice field — the 6-foot-3, 230-pound Caldwell at defensive end and the 6-1, 285-pound Williams at left offensive tackle.

Sitting next to each other Tuesday as playoff-hungry Temple (2-6, 1-3 District 12-6A) prepared for its home finale against Bryan (1-8, 0-5) at 7 tonight at Wildcat Stadium, Caldwell and Williams agreed that they win an equal amount of their one-on-one battles, sharpening both players’ skills for big games on Friday nights.
