One more game. One more win.

Temple head coach Chad President said that’s all he wants the Wildcats to concentrate on — regardless of playoff scenarios and points-based tiebreakers — as they prepare for their District 12-6A finale against Killeen Chaparral at 7 p.m. Thursday at Searles Stadium.

“One more. That’s what we talked about Saturday,” said President, whose program seeks its third consecutive postseason berth. “We talked about this journey four weeks ago coming off the (Hewitt) Midway game. We dropped one to Harker Heights, and then you’ve got three games left. After the victory (over Bryan) the other night, that’s what we talked about. One more. We’ve got one more.’

“We haven’t even talked about the scenarios. It’s been, ‘We’ve got to win one more game to even have a sniff of the playoffs.’”

One more victory could earn Temple (3-6) one more game, a Class 6A Division I bi-district playoff matchup next Friday at Waxahachie (8-1), which has secured 11-6A’s top D-I seed.
