Temple and Killeen Shoemaker each entered Tuesday’s District 12-6A affair on different paths, but aiming for the same destination.
The difference was the Grey Wolves already had a playoff bid locked up, with designs on furthering their chance at a league title, whereas the upset-minded Wildcats were fighting to stay in the postseason picture.
Behind a game-high 23 points from Jamarion Carlton and another 13 from Ramauhn Brown, the ’Cats did just that, using a no-quit defense to limit district-leading Shoemaker to just seven fourth-quarter points as they mostly pulled away over the final 4 minutes to rack up a 57-51 victory that brought the student section onto the floor in the aftermath of celebration.
