The Tem-Cat basketball team hosted Killeen on Friday evening in their final home game of the season. However, prior to the evenings contest, the Tem-cat seniors were honored for their dedication to the program over the past four years.
Five Tem-Cat seniors were honored with them being Jayla Govan, Dejah Thomas, Dawn Smith, Kalyn Ellis and Paris Morris.
Following a slow start for the Tem-Cats trailing 9-6 after one quarter, Temple started to heat up in the second with a spark coming from Maciah Morgan with 4 second quarter points and managed to take a 16-15 lead into the halftime break.
The third quarter saw Jesse Johnson get hot with 7 points as the Tem-Cats held the Lady Roos to two third quarter points and Temple won the quarter 13-2.
With Temple leading 29-17 going to the fourth, Killeen made a run at at the Tem-Cats in the fourth and got within 29-27 with less than a minute to play. However, with 20.1 seconds remaining, senior Jayla Govan sank a pair of free throws to provide some distance between themselves and Killeen to hold on for the victory.
Temple was led By Jesse Johnson with 9 points 6 rebounds, 2 assist and Tierney Perkins 7 points, 10 steals and four assist.
Also for Temple, Jayla Govan 5 points, 3 steals; Maciah Morgan 5 points, 4 rebounds; Dawn Smith 3 points, 7 rebounds, block and Dejah Thomas with 3 points, 11 rebounds3 steals and 2 blocks.
Temple will close out the season on February 4th when they will travel to Killeen to face Shoemaker at 7:00 pm.
