Harker Heights gets past Temple in District 12-6A matchup, 67-52

Temple jumped into the new year with initial gusto Friday, bolting ahead of county rival Harker Heights in the early stages of their District 12-6A clash, though the visiting Knights eventually wore down the Wildcats with their depth and hot shooting to claim a hard-fought 67-52 victory at Wildcat Gym.

Temple led by 16 points early in the second quarter and trailed by just four entering the final frame, in which Heights (17-8, 2-1) kept the Wildcats at bay by canning seven of nine shots to continue creating distance on the comeback-minded Wildcats (11-11, 1-2), who dropped their fourth straight game.

David Blount led four Heights players in double figures with 14 points, while Keyaun Martin chipped in 13 and Elijah Gibson tossed in 11.
