BELTON - The Tem-Cat freshman basketball team battled Austin Bowie on Saturday for the championship of the Belton ISD Tournament.
Bowie used a strong first half and held off a Tem-Cat rally as the Lady Bulldogs defeated Temple 38-28 and hand the Tem-Cats their first loss of the season.
Emma Flores 5 first half points but Temple found themselves trailing the Lady Bulldogs 27-14 at the half and could only muster 14 points in the second half.
Temple was led by Emma Flores with 7 points while Jazale Mose and Alearia Westbrook each scored 4 points.
Also for Temple, Imani Woodson had 3 points and with 2 points each were Ava Anderson, Cykharia White, Komariah Filmore, Alanah Johnson and Jonaeshia Harris.
Temple fell to 11-1 on the season and will return to play on Tuesday when they will travel to Bryan to open 12-6A play against the Lady Vikings beginning at 5:00 pm.
