Fast start propels Wildcats past Elgin 47-31

The Temple Wildcat basketball team used the hot shooting hand of junior Ramauhn Brown to build an early 19-7 lead and defeated the visiting Elgin Wildcats by a score of 47-31.

Brown sparked the first quarter surge with a 3-pointer and nine total points as he finished with 11 points on the night.

After an exciting first quarter of play, the second quarter was full of fast paced action but produced little points on the board for either team with Temple leading 23-10 at the half.

Both teams found more success in the third quarter in the score column as Houston Martin sored six points in the quarter and Temple carried a 33-20 lead to the fourth.

Martin continued hos strong shooting performance in the fourth scoring 6 more points while O'Ryan Peoples sank a crown thrilling 3-pointer and Jamarion Carlton brought the gym alive with a thunderous slam dunk late in the fourth.

Houston Martin led the Temple scoring with 14 points while Ramauhn Brown tallied 11. Kirk Gildon and Jamarion Carlton with 6 points, O'Ryan Peoples, J'Caleb Martin 3 and Tristan Lawson 2 points.

Temple will return to action on Monday with a road game at Waco High. Tipoff is set for 1:00 pm.
