WACO - Senior Dawn Smith sparked a huge win for the Tem-Cat basketball team on Tuesday night as Smith scored a team High 28 points as Temple defeated Waco High on the road by a score of 60-56.
The Tem-Cats road the hot hand of Smith as she was a solid 11 of 22 from the field and 5-7 from the free throw line. She also posted 10 rebounds to lead the team while also getting 3 steals and an assist.
Temple had a solid shooting night 10 of 19 from 2-point range, 1-3 from 3-point range and 13 of 17 from the free throw line.
Another pair of Tem-Cats reached the double digit mark as Tienery Perkins dropped in 14 and Jesse Johnson had 10 points. Perkins was sharp at the free throw line going 8 of 10 while grabbing 3 rebounds, collected 4 steals and dished out 7 assist. Johnson also posted 5 rebounds for the Tem-Cats.
Sophomore Kendall Tate had 5 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assist and 2 steals while Jayla Govan sank a 3-pointer and had 3 rebounds, 2 steals and an assist.
Temple will return to action on Friday when they will travel to Belton to take on the Lady Tigers beginning at 7:00 pm.
