The Wildcats — featuring many of those same athletes recently removed from the gridiron — made the transition seamlessly to the hardwood Tuesday night.
Jamarion Carlton had a team-high 15 points before fouling out late in the fourth quarter and Jason Bradford followed with 11 points as Temple staved off a Pflugerville Connally run inside the last 2 minutes to serve the Cougars their first loss of the season with a 55-49 win in a non-district game at Wildcat Gym.
“The first thing I saw is this team just came out of football. So with only one practice, for them to play a team that’s 3-0, I was impressed with our effort and our energy,” said Temple head coach Joey Martin, whose team dressed 10 players, nine of whom competed in football, including all five starters. “We missed some easy shots.
