The Tem-Cat basketball team received a strong performance from senior Dejah Thomas as she led Temple with a team high 22 points. However, a sluggish first half enabled the visitors from Godley to build a 33-13 lead at the half and held off the strong surge from Thomas to defeat the Tem-Cats 56-44.
Leading 15-11 early in the second quarter, Godley went on a 13-0 run to to build the 33-13 lead going to halftime. Temple played a solid second half and closed out the fourth quarter with a 19-9 run of their own.
Thomas led the Tem-Cats with 22 points while also pulling down 14 rebounds, getting 5 steals and 1 assist while Jesse Johnson posted 6 points and 7 rebounds and 2 steals.
Also for Temple, Ava Machuca had 6 points, 2 assist, 1 rebound; Tierney Perkins had 5 points, 2 assist, 1 steal; Jayla Govan a 3-ppinter and with 2 points was Jazariah Jackson, also with 2 steals.
Temple returns to action on November 18th with a road game at Waco High beginning at 6:30 pm.
