TEM-CATS DROP TWO GAMES IN TOURNEY OPENER

Tem-Cats drop two games in tourney opener

The Tem-Cat Basketball team opened tournament play on Thursday with a pair of close losses in the Colleyville Heritage Tournament.

Temple opened up play with the host team Colleyville Heritage and fell by a score of 40-29. Dejah Thomas had a superb game for the Tem-Cats leading the way with a team high 16 points while collecting 11 rebounds, also a team high and 2 steals.

Jesse Johnson tallied 4 points with 4 rebounds and 2 steals; Tierney Perkins 3 points 4 assist, 2 steals and with 2 points each were Maciah Morgan, Dawn Smith and Jayla Govan.

In their nightcap, Temple fell to Timber Creek by a score of 40-30. Dawn Smith led the scoring for Temple with a team high 11 points while also providing 4 rebounds, 2 assist and 2 steals.

Also for Temple, Jesse Johnsen and Dejah Thomas each with 5 points with Thomas also providing 10 rebounds, 3 steals and a block; Kendall Tate 3 points and with 2 points each were Tierney Perkins, Miciah Morgan and Jayla Govan.

Temple (1-3) will return to play on Friday with a matchup against Dallas Hillcrest beginning at 2:15 pm.
