COPPERAS COVE — Trailing 21-14 early in the fourth quarter, upset-minded Copperas Cove drove deep into Temple territory and threatened to spoil the Wildcats’ goal of clinching a playoff berth in Friday night’s District 12-6A duel at Bulldawg Stadium.
Jason Bradford had other plans.
Temple’s 6-foot-3 junior cornerback intercepted Anthony King’s tipped pass at the 10-yard line and sprinted 90 yards for a game-changing 90-yard touchdown return and a 28-14 advantage.
And Bradford wasn’t finished, picking off King’s next throw and cruising 31 yards for another TD return only 18 seconds later to highlight the Wildcats’ runaway 42-14 victory.
Temple (7-2, 4-1) secured its 11th postseason berth in 12 years and will compete in the Class 6A Division I playoff bracket.
