TEMPLE - The Temple High Varsity Boys Cross Country team lined up early Thursday morning on their home turf at Crossroads Park in Temple to take on a competitive field at the Broncho Cross Country Invitational. Facing off against 13 programs across Central Texas, the Wildcats battled through the 5,000-meter race to capture 7th place overall in the team standings with a total score of 199.

Killeen Harker Heights secured the overall team title with 67 points, closely followed by Buda Johnson in 2nd place with 74 points and Hendrickson taking 3rd place with 107 points.

Top Individual Medalists & Race Highlights

Elgin sophomore Erik Trevino delivered a standout performance to claim the individual championship, crossing the finish line with a time of 16:19.67. Killeen Harker Heights junior Blake Zimmerman took second place in 16:21.27, while Copperas Cove junior Anthony Carter rounded out the top three overall finishers at 16:26.76.

For the Temple Wildcats, senior Titus Tamez and junior Joe Vargas set the pace up front. Both runners delivered strong tactical performances to claim top-20 finishes and medal in front of the home crowd:
