TEMPLE, Texas — The Temple High Junior Varsity Girls Cross Country team delivered a competitive showing on Thursday morning at the Broncho Cross Country Invitational, securing a seventh-place team finish among 15 competing schools at Crossroads Park in Temple.

Competing in a packed 168-runner field across the 2-mile course, the Tem-Cats earned 194 team points. Leander took the team championship title with a low score of 56 points, followed by Lake Belton (80) and Hendrickson (105).

Top Meet Performers

Elgin junior Susana Escobedo captured individual gold with a dominant timing of 13:13.96, finishing over a minute ahead of the field. Manor’s Rose Brown (14:23.00) and Naima Jones (14:23.13) rounded out the top three individual podium spots.

Tem-Cat Medalists & Temple Individual Performances

The Tem-Cats were led by a pair of top-20 freshman medalists who set the tone at the front of Temple's lineup:

Layla Ramos (11th Place – 14:52.88): Ramos led all Temple runners, breaking the 15-minute mark to finish 11th overall and earn a Top-20 medalist spot.
Elianna Casanova (18th Place – 15:09.08): Casanova crossed the finish line shortly after to claim 18th place, securing Temple's second individual medal of the morning.
