Temple falls 9-2 to Mesquite Horn in Game 3 of bi-district series

WHITNEY — Temple pushed Mesquite Horn to a finale by pulling out the second of two games that lasted deep into the night as the pair tussled through a weather-influenced midweek start to their Class 6A bi-district series.

The Wildcats eventually ran out of gas as the skies finally cleared Saturday and the three-game playoff feud finally came to an end at the same site it began four days ago.

Michael Chavez allowed just two hits across six innings and Tyson Compton delivered a key two-run double during a four-run third to send Horn to a 9-2 victory in the decisive game of the teams’ best-of-three first-round clash at Wildcat Field.
