WAXHACHIE — The Temple Wildcat junior varsity boys track and field team put on a dominant display of depth and speed this past Friday at the Big Green Relays. Competing in a crowded field of 11 teams at Waxahachie High School, the Wildcats battled to a narrow second-place finish with 129.75 points, falling just shy of host Waxahachie (137.38 points) but comfortably ahead of third-place Burleson Centennial (85 points).
Gold Medal Performances
Temple’s "podium power" was on full display, headlined by Braylin Carr and Mehkai Armstrong. Carr was a force of nature, claiming first place in both the 100-meter dash (10.92) and the Long Jump (21’4). Armstrong matched that championship energy by leaping to a first-place finish in the Triple Jump (41’6).
In the field events, Teiaurione Thomas proved unbeatable in the Discus, securing gold with a toss of 114’9.
Meet Highlights & Medalists
Sprints: The Wildcats dominated the 100 meters, with Carr taking 1st and Armstrong taking 3rd. A’Xavion Latouche added a bronze in the 200 meters (23.61).
Relays: Temple's relay teams were consistently at the front of the pack. The 4x200 and 4x400 teams both took home 2nd place, while the 4x100 squad secured 3rd.
Vertical Jumps: The Wildcats soared in the Pole Vault, with Marcus Lee taking 2nd (10’0) and Elijah Shotkoski placing 3rd (9’6).

The Wildcats will look to capitalize on this momentum as they return home. Temple High School will host the District 12-6A Track & Field Championships at Wildcat Stadium on April 8-9. With the home-field advantage, the Wildcats are primed for a run at the district title.
