WAXAHACHIE, TX — The Temple Wildcat varsity boys track and field team traveled north on Friday to compete in the prestigious Big Green Relays at Waxahachie High School. Facing a crowded field of 11 powerhouse programs, the Wildcats showcased their speed and endurance, finishing the day in 8th place with a team score of 31 points.
Host Waxahachie dominated their home track to secure 1st place with 158 points, while Killeen Chaparral followed in 2nd with 85 points. Despite the stiff competition, Temple brought home multiple medals and top-five finishes.
Medalists and Top Performers
The highlight of the day for the Wildcats came from the sprint and relay squads. Khamani Sanders dashed his way to a Bronze Medal in the 100-meter dash, clocking in at a blistering 10.72 seconds. Sanders wasn't finished there, as he joined forces with Ramauhn Brown, Qui'Marion Dobbins, and Jaron Dailey to secure another Bronze Medal in the 4x200 relay with a time of 1:29.30.
On the distance side, Dominick Montalbo proved his workhorse status, competing in three separate grueling events (3200m, 800m, and 1600m) and cracking the top 10 in two of them. Meanwhile, Cameran Richburg narrowly missed the podium with a strong 4th-place finish in the 400 meters (50.31) and helped lead the 4x400 relay team to a 4th-place finish as well.
