WAXAHACHIE, TX – The Temple Tem-Cat Junior Varsity track and field team hit the road this past Friday, showcasing their depth and determination at the Big Green Relays. Competing in a crowded field of 11 powerhouse programs at Waxahachie High School, the Tem-Cats earned a respectable 4th Place finish, tallying 66 points on the day.
Host Waxahachie took the top spot with 229 points, followed by Rockwall (136) and Allen (68). While the competition was fierce, Temple’s athletes made their presence felt, particularly in the relays and jumping events.
Standout Performers and Medalists
The Tem-Cats saw several athletes climb the podium, highlighted by silver-medal performances in both track and field events.
The 4x100 Relay team—composed of Maliyah Caldwell, Lilyian Wilkerson, Jazmine Locklear, and Azaylea Peoples—delivered a blazing 50.53 to secure 2nd Place. In the individual sprints, Sydney Mayo notched a silver medal in the 400 meters with a time of 1:03.29, while also grabbing a bronze in the Triple Jump.
The jumps proved to be a goldmine for Temple points. Cykhiah White was a dual-threat, taking 2nd Place in the Long Jump (15’3) and 3rd Place in the High Jump (4’8). Meanwhile, Snisia Williams leapt her way to a 2nd Place finish in the Triple Jump with a distance of 31’2.

The Tem-Cats won't have long to rest as they prepare for another major test. The team will travel to Killeen on March 26 to compete in the Killeen ISD Relays at Leo Buckley Stadium.
