JOSHUA, TX – The atmosphere inside the Joshua High School arena was electric today as the strongest athletes in the region gathered for the THSPA Class 5A/6A Region II Division I Equipped Championship. Amidst the clanging plates and clouds of chalk dust, one name echoed through the venue: Bradley Fillmore.
The junior powerhouse delivered a career-defining performance, proving that he isn't just a participant in the 308-pound weight class—he’s a state-bound contender.
A Perfect Day on the Platform
Fillmore didn’t just meet his goals today; he dismantled them. Entering the regional meet with a clear mission, Bradley managed to hit Personal Records (PRs) across every single discipline. In the high-stakes environment of regional lifting, "going three-for-three" on PRs is a rare feat of physical and mental discipline.
Fillmore’s Historic 1,500-lb Total:
Squat: 570 lbs
Bench Press: 370 lbs
Deadlift: 560 lbs
Total: 1,500 lbs
Podium Finish and the Road to Abilene
Fillmore’s massive 1,500-lb total secured him a 3rd place finish in a highly competitive 308-lb field. The bronze medal, however, is only the beginning of the story. By hitting these marks, Bradley officially qualified to represent the 6A ranks at the pinnacle of the sport.
"He came with a goal and he shattered it," said observers close to the program.
The junior will now advance to the THSPA State Championship, held at the Taylor County Expo Center in Abilene, Texas, on March 28.
Watching a junior find this kind of momentum at the regional level bodes well for his chances on the state stage. Fillmore’s entry into the "1,500 Club" puts him in an elite tier of lifters heading to West Texas. With two weeks to fine-tune his lifts, the rest of the state should keep a close eye on the powerhouse from Region II.
