In a crucial home game last Oct. 31, Temple defeated District 12-6A rival Copperas Cove 32-0 with a thorough performance that helped the Wildcats earn their second consecutive Class 6A Division I playoff berth.

Afterward, athletic director Steve Prentiss promptly turned on the bright, blue-colored spotlight that sits atop Wildcat Stadium’s press box, a 10-year-old tradition that celebrates each Temple victory.

However, the Wildcats then closed 2025 with losses at district champion Harker Heights and playoff foe Duncanville, and they have opened this season with two non-district losses against playoff-caliber teams: 28-23 to Georgetown at Mary Hardin-Baylor and 49-37 to Round Rock last Friday at Wildcat Stadium.
