TEMPLE, TX — The "Iron Cats" are moving on. After a grueling regular season defined by early mornings and massive PRs, Temple High School has officially qualified 14 athletes for the upcoming Regional Powerlifting Championships.
The Temple contingent—comprised of 12 Tem-Cats and 2 Wildcats—will look to punch their tickets to the State meet as they face off against the best lifters in the region this March.
Tem-Cats Dominate the Field
The girls' team is heading to the regional stage with serious momentum and strength in numbers. Leading the charge is Jazaria Clinton, a force in the 242+ lb division who has been a consistent podium finisher throughout the season.
The Tem-Cats show impressive depth in the heavier brackets, particularly in the 220 lb division where they will field a trio of contenders: Ginger Evans, Mariah Gaines, and Mattie Whittmore. The mid-to-lightweight classes are also well-represented by Madison Sapp (123 lb), Lilyian Wilkerson (132 lb), and Alixxiya Miner (148 lb).
Rounding out the girls' roster are Chloe Watkins and Zoey Robinson in the 165 lb division, Kaylyn Wolf in the 181 lb division, and the powerhouse duo of Kamiya Porter and Alaina Lopez in the 198 lb division.
The girls will compete at the THSWPA Region 2 Championships on March 5 at Del Valle High School.
Wildcats Ready for Joshua
On the boys' side, Temple is sending two heavy-hitters to represent the blue and white. Bradley Fillmore enters the postseason as a major threat in the 308 lb division, coming off a season of dominant totals and massive personal bests. Joining him is Javier Agard, a consistent medalist in the 242 lb division known for his explosive strength in the squat and deadlift.
The Wildcats will take the platform at the THSPA Region 2 Championships on March 14 at Joshua High School.
