The Temple Tem-Cats hosted the Midway Pantherettes at Wildcat Gym on Friday evening for a gritty District 12-6A showdown. In a game defined by tough defensive stands and hard-earned buckets, Midway managed to pull away for a 36-25 victory.
The opening frame proved difficult for the Temple offense, as Midway’s defensive pressure limited the Tem-Cats to just three points. The Pantherettes jumped out to an 11-3 lead, setting a tone that would force Temple to play catch-up for the remainder of the night.
Wilson Sparks the Offense
Temple found its rhythm in the second quarter, nearly matching Midway point-for-point. Ja’Marea Wilson took charge of the comeback effort, exploding for seven points in the period, including a clutch 3-pointer.
Despite the surge, Midway’s Kamil Ajose—who finished with a game-high 15 points—helped the Pantherettes maintain a 25-12 lead heading into the locker room.
The second half became a defensive stalemate. Temple held Midway to just 11 total points across the third and fourth quarters, but the Tem-Cats struggled to find the consistent scoring needed to bridge the gap. Wilson added another four points in the third, finishing as the lone Tem-Cat in double digits.
