Following an extended late-season break, some of which came about because of recent icy weather, Temple showed some rust once it finally hit the floor for the first time in more than a week Thursday night.
The Tem-Cats went long stretches without a field goal to start each half and never recovered from their initial cold start as Copperas Cove posted a 48-22 victory in a District 12-6A matchup at Wildcat Gym.
Temple head coach Azzie Knox’s team had a bye at the end of last week — a byproduct of being part of a seven-team district — followed by inclement weather that pushed classes and extracurricular activities back a few days this week.
