BRYAN, TX — After a promising start on Tuesday evening, the Temple Tem-Cat basketball team struggled to find their offensive rhythm in a 61-28 loss to the Bryan Lady Vikings in a District 12-6A showdown.

A Tale of Two Halves

The opening frame suggested a defensive battle was in store. Both squads traded baskets and physical play, ending the first quarter knotted at 8-8. However, the momentum shifted violently in the second quarter.

Bryan’s defense tightened, holding Temple to just three points while their own offense exploded for 23. This 23-3 run sent the Tem-Cats into the locker room trailing 31-11, a deficit they were unable to overcome in the second half.

Inside the Numbers

Despite the tough final score, the Tem-Cats remained active on the glass and on the defensive end. Alanah Johnson led the effort in the paint with a team-high 9 rebounds, while Avery Perez provided a versatile stat line with 4 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 blocks.

Maciah Morgan paced the scoring for Temple with 6 points, adding 4 rebounds and a block to her credit. Ja'Marea Wilson and Avery Perez each contributed 4 points, while Mariah Dixon and Alanah Johnson added 3 apiece.

Team Leaders:

Scoring: Maciah Morgan (6), Ja’Marea Wilson (4), Avery Perez (4)
Rebounding: Alanah Johnson (9), Avery Perez (7), Aniyah Brumet (6)
Defense: Avery Perez (2 steals, 2 blocks), Maciah Morgan (2 steals, 1 block), Aliyah Paul (2 steals)

Looking Ahead

The Tem-Cats (District 12-6A) will look to bounce back and defend their home court in their next outing. Temple returns to Wildcat Gym on Tuesday, January 27, to host the Copperas Cove Lady Bulldawgs. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
