Temple held Killeen without a field goal through the first quarter Tuesday night, but the Lady Kangaroos nearly returned the favor in the final period, when the Tem-Cats converted just one field goal, helping Killeen hang on for a 28-24 comeback victory in a District 12-6A meeting at Wildcat Gym.
Seeking their first league win, the Tem-Cats (9-17, 0-5) stayed in control for most of the night and didn’t trail until the final minutes, after Killeen’s Ikeriyah Thomas banked home a layup from the right side with 3:48 to put her team in front for good at 23-21.
Thomas led all players with 11 points as the Lady Roos (11-12, 2-3) posted their second straight win. Temple misfired on its first nine looks from the field in the final frame, when it finished 1-of-12 from the floor.
