TEMPLE, TX — In a tightly contested defensive battle at Wildcat Gym on Tuesday night, the Temple Tem-Cat junior varsity basketball team relied on balanced scoring and a late surge from beyond the arc to secure a 38-34 victory over the Killeen High Lady Kangaroos.

Strong Start Sets the Tone

The Tem-Cats jumped out to an early lead, stifling the Lady Kangaroos' offense in the opening frame. Temple’s defense allowed only a single basket in the first quarter, heading into the second period with a 9-2 advantage.
Killeen High found their rhythm in the second, outscoring Temple 12-10, but the Tem-Cats maintained a slim 19-14 lead heading into the locker room at halftime.

Tight Finish at Wildcat Gym

The second half remained a back-and-forth affair. While Temple edged out Killeen 9-7 in the third quarter, the Lady Kangaroos refused to go away, mounting a late-game rally in the fourth.

The difference-maker in the final period proved to be Eowyn Bristol, who knocked down two massive 3-pointers to help stave off the Killeen comeback. Despite being outscored 13-10 in the final eight minutes, Temple’s early cushion and timely shooting allowed them to walk away with the four-point win.
