The Temple Wildcats used the red hot hand of senior guard DJ Nelson to spark a 14-0 opening run to start the game as Temple defeated Pflugerville Weiss by a score of 75-63 in the home opener for the Wildcats.

Nelson hit a trio of first quarter 3-pointers and 14 first quarter points as Temple raced out to a 27-18 lead over the Wolves in the first quarter.

Leading 43-31 at halftime, it was another senior who shined in the third quarter as Jamarion Carlton tallied 8 points and buried a 3-pointer as the Wildcats built an 18 point lead in the quarter.

The fourth saw the Wolves cut the Wildcat lead to within 6 points but multiple buckets from Ramauhn Brown, Ja'Caleb Martin and Carlton pushed back against the Wolves rally to secure the Wildcat victory.

Jamarion Carlton led the Wildcats in scoring with 20 points while fellow senior DJ Nelson finished with 19.

Also for the Wildcats, Ja'Caleb Martin had 12 points, Houston Martin 10, Ramauhn Brown 8, Terrell House 4 and Jayden Watkins with 2 points.

Temple (2-0) will return to action on Monday, November 24 when they will face Brenham at Academy High School beginning at 5:30 pm.
