AUSTIN - The Tem-Cat varsity basketball team participated in the BeYoutiful Basketball Classic hosted by Austin Westlake and finished strong in winning the Bronze Bracket Consolation Championship. Temple went 2-3 over three days and won their final two games with wins over El Paso Coronado and Conroe Oak Ridge.

In their opening games on Thursday, Temple went 0-2 on the day with losses to Lancaster and Harlan.

In their opener, the Tem-Cats fell to Lancaster by a score of 76-14. Mariah Dixon and Maciah Morgan led the Tem-Cats with 4 points each while Kendall Tate had 3 points, Ja'Tiyah Brown and Avery Perez with 2 points and rounding out the scoring was Aniyah Brumet with one point.

Game 2 saw Temple fall to Harlan by a score of 54-16. Jazaeah Canady with 4 points; Ja'Tiyah Brown 3 points; Jayden Faulks, Tiereney Perkins, Jessie Johnson and Ka'Myhria Freeman each with 2 points.

Friday saw the Tem-Cats split their two games.

Temple started the day with a 33-23 loss to Rockwall. The Tem-cats were led Kendall Tate with 8 points while Tierney Perkins had 4 points. With 3 points were Jessie Johnson, Avery Perez and Jazaeah Canaday; with 2 points was Jayden Faulks.

The second game of the day saw Temple defeat El Paso Coronado by a score of 51-24.

Temple started fast as Aniyah Brumet scored 6 first quarter points and the Tem-Cats led 16-3 after 8 minutes of play. Leading 25-14 by halftime, the Tem-Cats erupted for 20 third quarter points and extended their lead to 45-20 with Jessie Johnson draining a trio of 3-pointers.

The Tem-Cats were led by Aniyah Brunet and Maciah Morgan who each scored 8 points while Jessie Johnson, Tierney Perkins and Avery Perez each had 6 points.

Also for Temple, Kendall Tate with 5 points, Jayden Faulks with 3 points and with 2 points each were Mariah Dixon, Jazaeah Canady and Kamiya Porter.

In the Bronze Bracket consolation championship, the Tem-Cats matched up with Conroe Oak Ridge. The Tem-Cats played a strong first half as they jumped out to a 15-2 lead in the first quarter and led 23-3 by halftime. Keeping the momentum going, the Tem-Cats took the victory over Oak Ridge by a score of 37-20.

Tierney Perkins led Temple with a team high 11 points while Maciah Morgan had 8 points and Avery Perez 7 points. Also for the Tem-Cats, Ja'Tiyah Brown had 6 points, Kendall Tate 5 points and Jessie Johnson with 4 points.

Temple (2-4) will return to play on Tuesday, November 18th when they will host Robinson for their first home game of the season. Tip-off is set for 7:15 at Wildcat Gym.
