As it is, the 5-foot-9, 195-pound Crittendon is an effective backup to senior running back Cavalli Nealy, who’s closing in on a 1,000-yard season. In Temple’s seven games, Crittendon has rushed 38 times for 231 yards (6.1 per carry) and four touchdowns. In last Friday’s 42-14 homecoming win over Killeen, he compiled 75 yards and two TDs on a career-high 16 carries.
“That was really good and I was proud of Byron,” Wildcats offensive coordinator Garrett Campfield said. “It can be hard being a running back and getting two carries, four carries, six carries. But no matter what, he’s always ready to go whenever we say, ‘Hey Byron, go!’ He runs angry.”
