As a cornerback last year, the long-armed Bradford earned first-team All-District 12-6A recognition after making 37 tackles (27 solo), breaking up nine passes and grabbing four interceptions. He highlighted his season with an astounding display at Copperas Cove, returning back-to-back picks for touchdowns of 90 and 31 yards in an 18-second span.
After last season, however, Temple graduated two starting safeties and had a fresh crop of skilled cornerbacks ready to ascend to varsity. When first-year head coach Chad President and second-year defensive coordinator Thomas Rocco discussed how the Wildcats could field their best 11 defenders, they determined that moving the 6-foot-3, 190-pound Bradford to boundary safety — the spot they call “boom” — was the best course of action.
Bradford’s stellar play at his new post has made it an excellent decision for Temple (3-0), which seeks to complete a perfect non-district run against the Austin High Maroons (0-3) at 7:30 tonight at House Park.
