In last year’s matchup, Temple outplayed Copperas Cove in every phase of the game and blasted the Bulldawgs for a 32-0 victory that helped propel the Wildcats into the Class 6A playoffs.

In the rematch almost 11 months later, Cove returned to Wildcat Stadium on a homecoming Friday night and got its revenge against Temple with a hard-fought win to begin District 12-6A competition.

One minute after Kylan Basinger’s 53-yard touchdown pass to Bradyn Williams gave Temple a 28-27 lead with 10 minutes remaining, Wildcats linebacker Kyler Skrabanek nearly intercepted a screen pass by Craig Davis III but running back KJ Zeigler grabbed it away from him and rumbled for a 46-yard, go-ahead TD that made the difference as Cove dealt Temple an agonizing 35-28 defeat.
