HEWITT – The lights at Panther Stadium shone bright this past Saturday as the Temple High School Track & Field teams took their marks at the UIL Class 6A Region II Championships. Facing off against the premier elite talent in the state of Texas, the Wildcats and Tem-Cats delivered gritty performances to cap off a season defined by growth and competitive spirit.
While the elusive "top two" finish required to punch a ticket to the State Meet in Austin remained just out of reach, the presence of these six athletes in Hewitt served as a testament to their status among the region's best.
Tem-Cats Show Depth and Resilience
The Tem-Cats were well-represented across the track and field events, led by senior veterans and promising underclassmen.
Long Jump: Senior Kaurie Holleman secured the highest finish of the day for Temple, leaping 18’5 to take 7th place in an incredibly crowded field.
3200 Meters: Senior Analisa Terry closed her high school distance career with a 14th-place finish. Her time of 11:53.00 was an impressive feat, coming in just four seconds shy of her own school record.
Field Events: * Sophomore Aniyah Brumet broke into the top ten in the Triple Jump, finishing 10th with a distance of 36’10 ¼.
Freshman Cameron Evans showed that the future is bright in the Pole Vault, clearing 9’6 to finish 10th in her regional debut.
Junior Ka’Myhria Freeman powered through the Shot Put circle, placing 15th with a toss of 34’1 ½.
Tools Represents the Wildcats
On the boys' side, senior Xavier Tools carried the banner for the Wildcats in the 800 meters. Competing in one of the most tactical races on the track, Tools crossed the finish line in 2:02.66, earning 14th place in the region.
A Season to Remember
Though the season concludes in Hewitt, the accomplishments of these student-athletes cannot be understated. To qualify for a 6A Regional Meet in Texas is to be among the top tier of athletes nationally.
The Temple coaching staff expressed immense pride in the dedication shown by these competitors. From Terry’s record-chasing distance runs to Evans’ emergence as a freshman standout, the 2026 season has laid a solid foundation for the program's continued success.
Congratulations to all our Wildcats and Tem-Cats on a fantastic year!
