KILLEEN, TX – The Temple Tem-Cats didn’t just show up to the ballpark on Tuesday evening; they took over. Behind a massive six-RBI performance from Brenna Thomas and an explosive offensive display, Temple dismantled the Killeen High Lady Roos 22-1 in a District 12-6A showdown.
The tone was set before the home crowd could even settle into their seats. Temple surged to an early lead in the first inning, capitalizing on a Killeen error and a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch by Glory Foreman. However, the definitive blow came off the bat of Thomas, who crushed a grand slam to left field, clearing the bases and giving the Tem-Cats an immediate 6-0 cushion.
An Offensive Avalanche
Temple’s bats remained white-hot in the second inning, sending seven more runs across the plate on six hits. Thomas continued her career night with a two-run single, while Chiyna Granderson sparked the rally with a triple and Sha’kyhria Freeman added an RBI single.
The onslaught didn't stop there. In the third, the Tem-Cats repeated their seven-run feat. The highlights included:
Chiyna Granderson: A two-run triple (her second of the night).
Sha’kyhria Freeman: An RBI double.
Madyson Combs: A bases-clearing triple that drove in two runs.
Dominance in the Circle
While the offense grabbed the headlines, London Armour was clinical in the circle. The right-hander stifled the Lady Roos' bats, allowing only one hit and a single unearned run over four innings of work. Armour showed excellent command, racking up five strikeouts while surrendering only two walks.
Killeen’s P. Pinedo struggled to find answers for the Temple lineup, pitching four innings and allowing 22 runs on 16 hits, though only 13 were earned as the Lady Roos' defense struggled behind her.
By the Numbers
Temple’s lineup was relentless from top to bottom, finishing with 16 total hits.
Sha’kyhria Freeman: Led the charge from the leadoff spot, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs.
Brenna Thomas: 2 hits, 6 RBIs, including a first-inning grand slam.
Chiyna Granderson: 2-for-3 with two triples and 3 RBIs.
Saniya Maxwell: A perfect 2-for-2 day at the plate with three runs scored.
Aggression on the Paths: Maxwell and Freeman each swiped multiple bags as Temple tallied four stolen bases on the night.
Killeen’s lone bright spot on offense came from G. Wood, who recorded the team’s only hit of the contest.
Up Next
