Temple closed its stay in a tournament in Huntsville with a string of wins last weekend. The Tem-Cats took that momentum with them back north, and used it to open their home slate with a resounding victory Tuesday.
Madison Bond accounted for nine of her team’s 17 aces, and Aubrey Baker chipped in six kills to pace Temple’s balanced scoring attack as the Tem-Cats treated their home fans to a 25-7, 25-9, 25-15 sweep of Smithville at Wildcat Gym.
“We definitely took some hard losses (last weekend), but that fired us up for this game. We were super excited for it,” said the senior Bond, whose team won its fourth straight. “We’re very excited for this season. We have a lot of seniors this year and we want to show up and show out.”
