TEMPLE, TX — It was a quintessential Texas spring day at Wildcat Stadium this past Saturday—sunny, warm, and punctuated by a steady breeze—as the Temple Wildcat varsity boys track and field team hosted the annual Temple Relays.

Featuring a field of 11 talent-heavy teams, the Wildcats fought their way to a 4th Place team finish, tallying 67.5 points. Killeen Shoemaker dominated the day to take the top spot with 186 points, followed by Killeen Chaparral (98) and Belton (87).

Despite the stiff competition from their neighbors to the west, Temple showcased flashes of brilliance, particularly in the middle-distance events and the throwing rings.

Podium Highlights and Top Performers

The Wildcats celebrated two individual gold medalists on their home turf. Adan Hernandez took the crown in the 800 meters, clocking a blistering 1:59.46. He wasn't alone on the podium, as teammate Xavier Tools followed closely behind to secure 2nd Place with a time of 2:01.06.

In the field events, Javier Agard proved to be the class of the competition in the Discus, launching a winning throw of 135’11” to secure another 1st Place finish for the blue and white.

The relay teams also gave the home crowd plenty to cheer for. The 4x400 Relay squad (Hernandez, Castilleja, Rains, Richburg) pushed through the afternoon breeze to claim 2nd Place, while the 4x200 Relay team earned a bronze finish with a time of 1:27.41.
