TEMPLE, TX – Under a warm, breezy Texas sun on Saturday, the Temple Tem-Cat junior varsity girls track and field team put on a clinical performance at Wildcat Stadium. Hosting the annual Temple Relays, the Tem-Cats outpaced a competitive field of 11 teams to secure a resounding first-place team finish.

Temple’s depth was on full display as they racked up 179 points, comfortably distancing themselves from runner-up Belton (115 points) and third-place Killeen Chaparral (82 points).

Sprint Dominance and Relay Gold

The Tem-Cats were nearly untouchable in the sprint events. The 4x100 relay team—consisting of Lilyian Wilkerson, Maliyah Caldwell, Azaylea Peoples, and Jazmine Locklear—set the tone early with a gold-medal finish in 50.40 seconds.

The individual 100-meter dash saw a podium sweep for Temple:

Jaahmya Bethel took 1st Place (13.08)
Maliyah Caldwell earned 2nd Place (13.30)
Lilyian Wilkerson followed in 3rd Place (13.45)

Aniyah Wilson proved to be a powerhouse for the squad, winning the 200-meter dash (26.86) and anchoring a 1st Place finish in the 4x200 relay (1:48.57) alongside Bethel, Wilkerson, and Locklear.

Distance and Field Highlights

In the distance events, Madelyn Krumnow showed remarkable endurance, securing silver medals in both the 3200 meters (14:07.96) and the 1600 meters (6:25.28). Meanwhile, Na’Avaray Leverette provided a strong 2nd-place finish in the 800 meters.

Temple’s success translated to the field as well. Alanah Johnson leaped her way to the top of the podium with a 1st Place finish in the Triple Jump (32’7”). Cykhiah White was a dual-threat in jumping events, taking 2nd in the High Jump and 3rd in the Long Jump.
