LAKEWAY, TX – The Temple Tem-Cat Track & Field team officially ignited their 2026 season this past Friday, delivering a high-octane performance at the Lake Travis Relays. In a tightly contested battle that came down to the wire, the Tem-Cats secured a 3rd place team finish with 74 points, finishing just a breath behind host Lake Travis (79) and Liberty Hill (76).

The meet served as a showcase for Temple’s depth, particularly in the relay and field events, where the blue and white frequently occupied the podium.

Relay Dominance

Temple’s relay teams were the engine of the day, highlighted by a spectacular 1st place finish in the 4x200 Relay. The quartet navigated the track with precision, clocking in at a blazing 1:30.93 to take gold.

The Tem-Cats also showed their speed in the 4x100 Relay, securing a 2nd place finish with a time of 48.61. The distance and specialty crews added to the point total as well, with the Sprint Medley Relay taking 3rd (4:37.78) and the 4000M Distance Medley Relay finishing 4th (14:08.02).

Field Event Fireworks

While the track was hot, the field events were where Temple truly flexed their muscle. Bella Jenkins had a standout day in the rings, claiming 1st place in the Shot Put with a toss of 35’1 and adding a 6th place finish in the Discus. Joining her on the Shot Put podium was Jazaria Clinton, who took 3rd with a mark of 33’5 ½.

The jump pits were equally productive for Temple:
Long Jump: Kaurie Holleman soared to 2nd place with a jump of 18’0 ½, followed closely by Damauria Nolan Hemphill in 3rd (17’9).

Triple Jump: Kylee Dupar earned a 7th place finish with a leap of 34’0 ½.
