The Tem-Cat softball team opened the 2025 season at home on Monday. Playing through drizzle and cold conditions, the Tem-Cats fell to Robinson by a score of 8-4.
The Tem-Cats took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the season as freshman catcher Madyson Combs launched a 2-run home run to center field in her first varsity at bat.
However, the Rockettes regained the lead in the top of the third with four runs to 5-1 lead over the Tem-Cats. Robinson would tack on a single run in the fifth and two more runs in the 6th.
Temple would tally their third run of the night in the fifth as Combs picked up her third RBI on a bases loaded walk.
The Tem-Cats were led by Madyson Combs who went 1-2 with a home run, 2 walks and 3 RBI while Ava Machuca went 2-2 with a double and a walk.
Temple picked up 7 hits on the night while also drawing eight walks. Glory Foreman went 1-2 with a double while Lilliana Gandara, Saniya Maxwell and Brooke Knox each picked up singles.
Brooke Knox took the loss on the mound going 6.0 innings giving up 3 earned runs on 10 hits with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Kaitlyn Teeters tossed one inning of ball giving up no runs on 2 hits.
Temple will return to play on Thursday with a pair of games in the Texas Leadoff Classic. The games will be played at College Station High School at 1:00 and 7:00 against Tomball and Lee High School respectively.
