HEWITT – The road to Austin runs through Panther Stadium this weekend as the Temple Tem-Cats and Wildcats prepare to face the elite of Class 6A Region II. With a trip to the UIL State Track & Field meet on the line, Temple’s top athletes are ready to battle for those coveted top-two finishing spots.

While the stakes remain high, the schedule has seen a significant shake-up. Due to expected rain on Friday, meet officials have moved all field events to Saturday. On the track, the distance runners will brave the Friday elements early, with the 3200-meter run scheduled for 3:00 pm, followed by running preliminaries at 5:00 pm.

Tem-Cats Primed for Heavy Saturday Schedule

The Tem-Cats arrive in Hewitt with a deep roster of qualifiers across jumping, throwing, and distance events.

The action begins Friday afternoon with Analisa Terry (12:02.84) and Maya Ramirez (12:20.23) taking on the 3200-meter run at 3:00 pm. Ramirez will face a grueling turnaround, returning to the track Saturday night at 8:45 pm to compete in the 1600-meter run, where she enters with a qualifying time of 5:30.99.

Saturday morning will be a whirlwind for Temple’s field athletes:

Kaurie Holleman looks to soar in the Long Jump at 9:00 am, entering with an impressive leap of 19’0.
Ka’Myhria Freeman will compete in the Shot Put simultaneously at 9:00 am, bringing a qualifying mark of 38’1 ¼.
Aniyah Brumet takes to the pit for the Triple Jump at 11:00 am (36’8 ¼).
Cameron Evans wraps up the field events in the Pole Vault (9’6) at 1:00 pm, following the conclusion of the boys' event.

Tools Represents Wildcats in 800m

On the boys' side, Xavier Tools carries the banner for the Wildcats. Tools will compete in the 800-meter run on Saturday at 5:50 pm. Having clocked a qualifying time of 2:00.08, Tools will be looking to shave off those final fractions of a second to secure a top-two finish and a ticket to the state meet.
