Temple softball head coach Courtney Cynar knew heading into Friday night’s matchup against Killeen that her team had the potential to end it early, but she still had her squad focused on playing to the standards she’s set.
That standard carried the Tem-Cats to a 17-run burst over the first three innings in a District 12-6A contest against Killeen that ended in a 17-2 Temple win after 3 ½ innings because of the mercy rule.
“I’d be lying if I said I don’t look at stats and scores at the end of every week,” Cynar said. “But my biggest thing with this team is to play our softball, and we’ve been preaching this to this team all year long. I don’t care who’s across the field, we play up every single time and don’t get complacent against teams (we) think are beneath (us).”
