The Temple Tem-Cat varsity track and field team proved they could weather more than just stiff competition this past Saturday morning at the Round Rock Invitational.
Despite a persistent downpour that eventually cut the meet short, the Tem-Cats secured a solid 3rd Place finish in the team standings with 49 points, trailing only Killeen Chaparral (52) and the host Round Rock (72).
Weathering the Storm
Mother Nature was the toughest opponent on the track. Persistent rain forced officials to cancel all field events early in the day, pivoting the meet to a "running only" format. However, the conditions didn't relent. As the 400-meter dash was underway, the meet was officially cancelled for safety, leaving several events unfinished.
Podium Performances and Highlights
Even with a truncated schedule, the Tem-Cats made their presence felt, particularly in the relays and sprints.
The 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams both powered through the slick conditions to earn 2nd Place finishes, showcasing the depth and speed of the Temple roster.
Individual standout Audrey Troup was a force to be reckoned with, securing 3rd Place in the 100 meters with a blistering 12.24.
In the middle-distance and endurance categories, Maliah Neal snagged a silver medal in the 400 meters, while Analisa Terry led the long-distance charge with a strong 5th Place finish in the 3200 meters.
