Tem-Cats JV Secure 3rd Place as Rain Cuts Round Rock Invitational Short

The Temple Tem-Cat junior varsity track and field team proved they could handle the heat—and the rain—this past Saturday morning at the Round Rock Invitational. Despite a chaotic schedule dictated by the elements, the Tem-Cats secured a solid 3rd Place finish in the overall team standings with 43 points, trailing only Round Rock Cedar Ridge (44 points) and the first-place hosts, Round Rock (101 points).

Weather Dampens the Schedule

Mother Nature was the toughest competitor on the track. Persistent rain forced officials to cancel all field events before they could begin, turning the invitational into a running-only meet. The weather eventually won out; the meet was officially called off during the 400-meter dash, leaving several events incomplete.

Top Performances

Even with a limited window to compete, the Tem-Cats made their presence felt:

Relay Success: The highlight of the morning was a 1st Place victory in the 4x100 Relay. The quartet of Lilyian Wilkerson, Azaylea Peoples, Jazmin Locklear, and Aniyah Wilson outpaced the field with a time of 51.19.

Sprint Standouts: Jaahmya Bethel earned a silver medal in the 100-meter dash (13.21), while Sidney Mayo matched that 2nd Place effort in the 400 meters (1:04.39) before the clouds finally broke the schedule.

Consistent Scoring: The 4x200 Relay team grabbed 4th place, and Na’Avaray Leverette provided a strong 7th place finish in the 800-meter run.
