DESOTO, TX – The Temple Wildcat Track & Field team traveled north this past Saturday to face a gauntlet of talent at the Desoto Nike Invitational. Hosted at Desoto High School, the meet featured a "who’s who" of elite programs from across the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, providing a high-stakes environment for the Wildcats to test their speed and endurance.
The highlight of the day for Temple came in the 800-meter run, where Adan Hernandez proved he belonged at the top of the podium. In a gritty performance against a deep field, Hernandez surged to a 1st Place finish with a stellar time of 1:59.48, marking the Wildcats' sole gold medal of the afternoon.
Performance Highlights
Temple's relay teams remained competitive in some of the fastest heats of the season. The 4x400 Relay squad—comprised of Qui'Marion Dobbins, Thomas Stewart Rains, Sebastian Castilleja, and Adan Hernandez—battled their way to a 7th Place finish, clocking in at 3:28.12.
In the field events, Zephaniah Sio narrowly missed the top eight in the Discus, securing 9th Place with a heave of 124’11. Cameran Richburg also flirted with the leaderboard in the 400 meters, taking 9th Place in 51.67.
Distance specialist Aidan Gibbons showcased his versatility and stamina, competing in three separate events including an 8th Place finish in the 3200 meters.
