AUSTIN: The Temple Tem-Cats experienced the highs and lows of tournament play on Friday during Day 2 of the Round Rock Westwood Tournament. After a morning pitchers' duel that didn't go their way, Temple bounced back in the afternoon to secure a gritty 4-1 victory, bringing their season record to 6-5.

Game 1: Hendrickson 3, Temple 0

The opening matchup of the day was a showcase of elite pitching, as Temple’s Brenna Thomas and Hendrickson’s Kara Luongo went toe-to-toe. Ultimately, the Hawks found the timely hits that eluded the Tem-Cats.

Hendrickson struck early in the first inning when Hadlee Woodard drove in a run with a single. That slim lead held steady as Luongo dominated, allowing only one hit—a single by Saniya Maxwell—over five shutout innings.
Despite the loss, Thomas was stellar in the circle. The right-hander struck out nine batters and allowed only two hits over five innings of work. A few defensive miscues proved costly, as only two of the three runs charged to Thomas were earned.

Game 2: Temple 4, SA MacArthur 1

The Tem-Cats showed their resilience in the nightcap, shaking off the morning shutout to defeat the San Antonio MacArthur Brahmas.

Temple drew first blood in the second inning when Lillian Bolivar showed great plate discipline, drawing a bases-loaded walk to make it 1-0. The Brahmas managed to tie the game in the fifth, but Temple took over in the sixth with a clinical offensive performance:
Saniya Maxwell broke the tie with an RBI double.
Lillian Bolivar executed a perfect sacrifice bunt to extend the lead.

The Tem-Cats combined for seven hits in the contest.
Brenna Thomas earned the win, tossing five innings of three-hit ball before London Armour came on in relief to shut the door in the final frame. Maxwell, Armour, and Madyson Combs each paced the offense with two hits apiece.

Friday Statistical Leaders

Saniya Maxwell: 3-for-4 total on the day, including a clutch RBI double in Game 2.
Brenna Thomas: 10.0 total innings pitched with 12 strikeouts and only 5 hits allowed across two starts.
London Armour: 2-for-3 at the plate and 1.0 inning of scoreless relief to close out MacArthur.
Madyson Combs: Recorded 2 hits in the victory over the Brahmas.
Lillian Bolivar: Credited with an RBI walk and a sacrifice bunt to help seal the Game 2 win.
