NEW BRAUNFELS – The Temple Tem-Cats finished their run in the Comal ISD "Wurst" Tournament on a high note Saturday afternoon, battling through a back-and-forth slugfest to defeat the Canyon Cougarettes 6-5.

With the victory, Temple moves to 3-3 on the young season, finishing the weekend tournament with a 2-3 record.

Late Inning Heroics

The game was a see-saw affair from the first pitch. After entering the top of the fourth inning deadlocked at 5-5, Temple managed to manufacture the go-ahead run. Madyson Combs put the ball in play against Canyon’s Delilah Hernandez, and while the Cougarettes managed to get the out on a fielder's choice, it was enough to drive in the deciding run.

Early Fireworks

The Tem-Cats wasted no time finding their rhythm at the plate. In the top of the first, cleanup hitter London Armour delivered a massive three-run home run to left field, instantly putting Temple ahead.

However, Canyon responded immediately in the bottom half of the frame, using singles from Jalynn Porras and Addie Summers to jump ahead 4-3.

Key Performers

Temple’s offense was paced by a mix of power and speed:

Ka’Myhrea Freeman: The leadoff hitter was perfect at the plate, going 2-for-2 with two hits, two runs scored, an RBI, and two stolen bases.

London Armour (Hitting): Provided the early power surge with a three-run home run, going 1-for-3 with 3 RBIs.

London Armour (Pitching): Pitched 3.2 innings of stellar relief, surrendering zero earned runs and striking out three to seal the win.

Madyson Combs: Finished the day with a clutch RBI single in the second inning before driving in the winning run in the fourth.

Defensive Stand

While Canyon played a clean game defensively with zero errors, Temple’s pitching staff showed resilience. Brenna Thomas started the contest, and though the Cougarettes found some early success, Armour’s entry into the circle stabilized the game, allowing the Tem-Cats' bats time to reclaim the lead.

Looking Ahead

The Tem-Cats won't have long to celebrate their tournament finale. They hit the road again this Tuesday to take on the McGregor Bulldogs. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM in McGregor.
