TEMPLE, TX — It was a Friday evening to remember at the Tem-Cat Softball Field as the Temple varsity squad turned a tight scrimmage into a runaway 14-3 victory over Troy. Behind an explosive 10-run fourth inning and a powerhouse performance from Madyson Combs, the Tem-Cats showcased a dangerous blend of power and plate discipline.
The Madyson Combs Show
Madyson Combs was the undeniable engine of the Temple offense. The standout went a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate, but it was her production in the fourth inning that broke the game wide open. Combs accounted for four RBIs on the night, highlighted by two massive hits in the same frame: a solo home run to center field and a bases-clearing triple that brought three runners home.
Inning-by-Inning Breakdown
The Early Exchange: Troy struck first in the top of the first with a solo home run to left. However, Temple answered immediately in the bottom half. Saniya Maxwell drove in a run with a single, followed by a sacrifice fly from London Armour to put the Tem-Cats up 2-1.
Armour Goes Deep: After a quiet second, London Armour extended the lead in the third with a solo blast over the left-field fence.
The Big 10: The fourth inning was a masterclass in offensive pressure. Along with Combs’ home run and triple, Temple received RBI contributions from Glory Foreman (single), Lillian Bolivar (sacrifice bunt), and Saniya Maxwell (double). Brenna Thomas also forced home a run by drawing one of her four walks on the night.
