TEMPLE, TX — The Temple ISD Hardin Swim Center was electric on Thursday, January 22, as the Temple Wildcat swim team hosted the District 12-6A Championships. In a display of pure grit and efficiency, the Wildcat boys defied the odds—competing with a lean roster of just seven swimmers—to claim the title of Boys District Runner-Up.

The day was a masterclass in coaching and performance, highlighted by Coach Spano being named the Boys Coach of the Meet.

Championship Gold

Temple dominated the top of the podium, securing five District Champion titles. The relay teams set the tone early, with the quartet of Jacob Corbin, John Culp, Jered Wozniak, and Champ Mayo taking gold in the 200 Medley Relay. That same core (with Arty Reichert joining Culp, Wozniak, and Mayo) capped off the meet by winning the 400 Free Relay.

Individual District Champions:
Jered Wozniak: 50 Freestyle
Champ Mayo: 100 Freestyle
John Culp: 100 Breaststroke

Regional Bound

The Wildcats aren't done yet. Seven swimmers have officially punched their tickets to the Regional Meet at the Rockwall ISD Aquatic Center on February 6.

Leading the charge into Regionals are John Culp (who also took 2nd in the 100 Butterfly), Arty Reichert (4th in the 500 Freestyle), and Mystynna Jones, who advanced with a strong 6th-place finish in the 100 Backstroke. The Boys 200 Free Relay team (Champ Mayo, Jase Mayo, Jacob Corbin, Jered Wozniak) also advanced after a hard-fought 2nd-place finish.
