TEMPLE, TX — Despite a spirited start and a standout performance from Bryson Williams, the Temple Wildcats junior varsity squad fell to Killeen Shoemaker, 79-52, in a District 12-6A matchup on Friday evening at Wildcat Gym.
The Greywolves used an explosive second quarter to pull away, maintaining a high-tempo offense that the Wildcats struggled to contain throughout the second half.
Game Breakdown: A Tale of Two Quarters
The contest began as a back-and-forth defensive battle. Temple hung tough in the first frame, trailing by only two points (18-16) thanks to balanced scoring across the roster. However, the momentum shifted decisively in the second period.
Shoemaker’s defense tightened, holding Temple to just 10 points while their own offense found its rhythm, dropping 21. The Wildcats went into the locker room at halftime trailing 39-26.
Quarter
Temple attempted to chip away at the lead in the third, but Shoemaker matched them blow-for-blow, once again outscoring the Wildcats 21-14. While the Wildcats found success in the paint late in the game, the deficit proved too large to overcome.

Bryson Williams was the clear focal point for the Temple offense. Williams finished with a team-high 16 points, showcasing his ability to score in bunches. He accounted for over half of the team’s production in the second quarter (6 points) and remained aggressive until the final whistle, adding another 8 points in the fourth.
Other notable contributors for the Wildcats included:
Brycen Thomas: 7 points
Landon Walker: 7 points
Lealon Harris: 6 points
Dashawn Liggons: 5 points
Brody Baxter: 5 points
Rounding out the scoring were Marcus Davis with 4 points and Darrius Love-Brown with 2.
