AUSTIN - The Tem-Cat Track & Field team completed competition in the Texas Relays on Friday with the 4x400 relay team qualifying for the finals on Saturday and junior Kaurie Holleman finishing in 6th place in the long jump.
Kaurie Holleman, who set a school record in the long jump a few weeks ago had a leap of 18'6 1/2 on Friday to finished in 6th place in an event showcasing some of the best talent in the state of Texas.
The 4x400 relay team of Maliah Neal, Kylee Dupar, Jaylynn Pearson and Aniya Brumet ran a time of 3:56.76 to place 8th overall in the qualifying which was good enough to advance to Saturday's finals.
Several other Tem-Cats also competed on Friday but failed to qualify for Saturday's finals.
They included Audrey Troup who ran a 12.36 in the 100 meters and the 4x200 relay team of Audrey Troup, Maliah Neal, Jaylynn Pearson and Kaurie Holleman who finished 15th overall with a time of 1:41.43.
Senior Dejah Thomas also competed in the long jump where she had a lead of 15'10 1/2. However, Thomas will be back on the runway on Saturday as she will compete in the triple jump.
Joining Thomas on Saturday will be the 4x100 relay team as they will have qualifying in the morning at 9:00 am in hopes of joining the 4x400 in the Saturday finals.
